Shooting Stars Coach Tackles Players Over Poor Showing

Shooting Stars manager Gbenga Ogunbote has tackled his players for their poor showing in the first half of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign.

Ogunbote lamented on Fresh FM 105.9 that his players have been struggling to secure maximum points even at home this term as a result of failing to play brilliantly.

"In the first stanza of the league we've not done too brilliantly and we just make sure that we want to amend where necessary but the first stanza hasn't been a brilliant one for the team," he said on air.

The gaffer went further to note that the club is making plans to bring in new players who have the potential of helping the team bounce back to winning ways in the second half of the season.

"We will bring one or two quality players to ensure that we tighten up.

"We won't sign too many players for the second stanza, all we need to do is to block the loopholes we noticed in the first stanza, we are talking about bringing between 3 and 5 players," he added.

The Oluyole Warriors are currently in seventh position in Group A with 10 points.

They will resume hostilities with Akwa United when the league commences for the second stanza on March 25 .
