Six people lost their lives on Tuesday during a protest over roadblocks set up by Guinea's police force as part of measures implemented to stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the country.
A spokesperson for the police, Mory Kaba said, who confirmed the incident said: “There were five deaths in Coyah and one in Dubreka.”
The police had said that displeased Guineans protested against the roadblocks erected by the police that serve to control the traffic between the capital city of Conakry and other parts of the country.

Witnesses said that residents protested the maltreatment and extortion of Guineans by the police at the entrances and exits of the country's capital.
Currently, Guinea's coronavirus cases stand at 2,213, making the West African nation one of the hardest hit by the disease; it has also recorded a total of 11 fatalities.
