Slimming Teas Do Not Work!


It is hard to discredit something that has been "proven" by users of a particular product, especially when they feel like that is their only stress-free and effective saving grace. But I am here to tell you why you should give that slimming tea idea a second thought.

Yes, companies who peddle these teas will tell you that they are effective, and there are some people who would swear by their effectiveness, even when what they are experiencing isn't at all what they think it is.

Millions of money is spent on advertising on social media. Social media influencers have also been used to peddle the idea that slimming teas are great for burning fat and improving one's metabolism and suppressing their appetite. 

What these companies tell you, as any smart and business-oriented capitalist group would, is that these products actually do what you want them to do - slim you down - sometimes, without the stress of waking up at 5 or 6 in the morning, doing power walks and consequently breaking into a jog or short sprint that would leave you exhausted and tired of life. 

They fail to tell you this: these products can cause you to miss your periods (for females, obviously), unplanned pregnancies (females again), and would leave you with your gut permanently destroyed.

WHAT EXACTLY ARE SLIMMING TEAS?

They are a blend of herbs and tea, and this depends on the brand of slimming tea, and are said to help you lose weight, burn fat, boost your body's metabolism, and reduce your need for a quick grub.

Now, these teas contain certain ingredients that do a different job from what you would think that they have been made to do: they help you lose water weight.

WHAT IS WATER WEIGHT?

This is basically you losing fluids that are stored up in your body to keep you dehydrated, making you feel like you have truly lost some weight.

This is not healthy because your body would have lost the necessary amount of water your body needs for its everyday function. You would be dehydrated, which can lead to you incurring other severe health issues.

Let us take a look at the harmful ingredients of these teas and talk a little about their effects on your health.

LAXATIVES

In case you did not know, these weight loss teas contain laxatives.

What are these?

Laxatives are substances that cause your bowel to loosen so that you can have a free bowel movement. These are necessary for only when you are having issues with your bowel movement when you are unable to use the toilet well, and not when you are trying to lose some body fat. But in these laxatives, there is an unhealthy amount of it in them, and the more you use them, the more you feel the need to eject waste into your toilet bowl, this can lead to other problems like stomach pains, and diarrhoea.

The more you ingest laxatives, the more harmful to your body it will be.

DIURETICS

Diuretics cause you to pee very often, and this happens because they make the body want to eject any excess water and sodium that is accumulated.

This might seem useful because, who needs excess fluids in their body, right? But in the long run, your body would lose so much fluid that you would be dehydrated.

NB: Not all weight loss teas come packed with those listed ingredients, but there are other ways to lose weight, they may sound hard, but they are not impossible.

Really, though, you should try eating some veggies some time, for a long time. And drink plenty of water!
