The chairman of Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Mallam Zaharadden Abubakar, has called on the state government to intervene over the soil erosion threatening Ganji and Bango communities under his watch.
Abubakar made the call when he led officials of the local government to assess the affected areas. While showing concern, he said the erosion is threatening farmland and houses in the areas.
He however appealed to the state government and relevant authorities to intervene before it becomes too late.
The chairman also visited Lafiyan Kondiko and Zagamandiri villages to sympathize with the victims of rainstorms that affected farmlands and houses.
He prayed to God almighty to forestall future occurrences.
The chairman also inspected the construction of Shafata Juma`at Mosque being undertaken by the community, reported Radio Nigeria.
He further pledged to discuss with the member representing Gwaram constituency in the Jigawa State House of Assembly with a view to completing the Mosque and Korko Gabas primary school.
