Sokoto: Aliyu hails army, NSA for rescue of abducted Almajir

The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu has commended the Nigerian Army and office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu for the rescue of the abducted Almajiri pupils and a lady in the state.

Governor Aliyu made this known when he received the rescued victims who were abducted by bandits in Gada Local Government Area of the state about two weeks ago. 

He explained that all the rescued victims have been ascertained by health practitioners to be healthy.

He said: "All the children have been found healthy and are ready to be reunited with their parents."

Abubakar Bawa, the Governor's Chief Press Secretary in a statement on Saturday said the governor also announced a donation of two bags of grains and N100,000 to each of the rescued abductees. 

"I want to use this medium to call on people of the state to continue to support the present administration in its quest to fully secure the State."

According to Bawa, the governor urged residents to support the security operatives in the state with useful information on activities of bandits and other criminals to tackle insecurity. 

On his part, the Garrison Commander 8 Division Nigerian Army Sokoto, General Tawasimi commended the governor's continuous support to the military in its effort to end banditry in the state. 

He assured of the commitment of the Nigerian Army to securing the state while appealing for support from residents.
