Sokoto Governor Reverses Tambuwal's Last-Minute Appointments

The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu, has reversed the former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal's last-minute appointments in the state.

The governor also revoked the allocation of lands made by the Tambuwal administration recently. 

The governor gave the directive on Tuesday in a statement by his Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa.

The directive also affects traditional rulers and all the boards of civil service recently appointed by Tambuwal. 

He explained that all appointees after March 19, 2023, were affected by the directive. 

According to Bawa, the renaming of tertiary institutions in the state by Tambuwal has also been nullified.

“All recent appointments of traditional rulers, made by former Gov. Aminu Tambuwal are hereby suspended and will be reviewed in due course in the public interest.

“All local government sole administrators/ caretaker committees recently appointed by the immediate past administration are hereby dissolved," the governor said. 

The governor further directed Local Government Area Sole Administrators to hand over to the Directors of Administration at the Councils with immediate effect.

He also dissolved all governing boards of parastatals other than statutory boards with immediate effect.

The governor further said that all wasteful and unnecessary auction of government assets were suspended and would be revisited in due course.

Following the directive, the governor appointed Ibrahim Arkilla as the acting Director-General of the State's Pilgrims Welfare Agency.
