Sokoto: Police speak on abduction of woman, 15 Almajiri pupi

The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of one woman and 15 Almajiri pupils in Gidan Bakuso village in Gada Local Government Area of the state.

The command's spokesperson, ASP Ahmad Rufa'i made the confirmation to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Rufa'i explained that the abductors took advantage of the remote location of the village to carry out their heinous act.

The incident which took place in the early hours of Saturday comes a few days after over 200 pupils, students and their teachers were abducted in Kuriga, a community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Vice President Kashim Shettima equally visited Kaduna to assure the Federal Government's support for the rescue of the abducted children on Saturday. 

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, Rufa'i said the security agencies were frustrated by the lack of access roads to provide support to the village during the attack.

He explained that the command had already mobilized its tactical team to ensure the rescue of the abducted pupils and the woman.

While assuring that security agencies in the state were currently working towards the rescue of the victims, he appealed to the public to support them with relevant information leading to the success of the ongoing rescue operation.
