Sudanese anti-coup protesters were on Tuesday attacked with tear gas by security forces in Khartoum while they were protesting against the military government.
Thousands of protesters gathered across Sudan on Tuesday protesting against the military takeover of the country headed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who led an October 25 coup that derailed a transition to civilian rule.
The protesters burnt car tyres and built rock barricades on the streets whilst chanting for the military to go back to the barracks.
While thousands of the protesters gathered and tried to march towards the presidential palace, they were met with tear gas by the soldiers.
Aljazeera declared that the authorities closed roads in order to prevent protesters from reaching key government buildings.
Since the Oct 25 military takeover, thousands of people have continued taking to the streets to protest despite a heavy security presence. At least 57 protesters have been killed and over 100 injured since the coup.
