Soludo Charges Anambra Youths On Good Governance, Developmen

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra on Friday encouraged the state's youth to be advocates for good governance and development during the election and inauguration of the new leadership of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Youth Wing in Awka.

ASATU is a community-based youth organization composed of youth leaders in the town union leaderships in the 179 communities of Anambra.

The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba, emphasized the importance of youth-based organizations in the success of his administration's agenda and pledged to support them.

Soludo also urged the ASATU Youth Wing to work with other youth organizations, including the National Youth Council of Nigeria, youth wings of faith-based organizations, Boy Scouts, and other recognized groups.

"You should synergise and complement each other and avoid any form of supremacy battle or conflict,” he said.

He commended ASATU-Youth Wing for their peaceful and orderly election, wishing the new executive body a victorious tenure.

The new president of ASATU, Ken Okoli, pledged to work with traditional rulers, Presidents General of Town Unions, and the government to promote peace and growth in the communities and ensure that the government is responsive to the needs of the people.

Okoli, the convener of "I believe in Anambra" also thanked Soludo for his support of ASATU-Youth and the opportunities provided to its members within the administration.

“We must help the government to succeed, we shall not fail, because if the government fails, we have failed.

“We shall push the message and actions of good governance in the 179 communities of Anambra,” Okoli said.
