Son Of Kano State Women Affairs Commissioner Goes Missing

Dr. Zahra'u Muhammad Umar

AbdulRahman Abdu Usman, the son of Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Zahrau Muhammad Umar is missing.

According to Daily Trust, 24-year-old AbdulRahman has been missing for about 15 days now, throwing panic amongst the family.

Though it is yet to be established if this is a case of abduction or not, the missing youngster was said to be last seen when he left his family house in Kano on January 17, for Katsina where he is undertaking the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Since then, all efforts to trace his whereabouts have proven abortive as he cannot be reached on his mobile phones

The family also gathered that Abdulrahman did not arrive in Katsina.

Reports say security operatives have since been alerted in the state and it is believed they are working round the clock for a breakthrough.

Confirming the incident, the Commissioner said she hasn’t seen or heard from her son in days.

Despite police efforts in the state, cases of abduction continue to be reported more frequently than usual.

In a similar occurrence, AllNews reported how a former Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly recently revealed that he paid N40 million to secure the release of his mother, Hajiya Zainab Danja, who was kidnapped.

The Commissioner did not however reveal if the Police were involved in her rescue, neither did the police comment on the issue.
