Sony has released its second software update for PlayStation 4 and PS5 with support for a voice command feature, Game Base, and some changes to the console.
The PS5 and PS4 betas will be open to selected participants in the US and UK first and the accessibility feature is currently available in the English language only.
The new update brings a system option that will make the console respond to “Hey PlayStation.”
Sony noted that the new update brings other new accessibility features, including one that makes headphones output mono audio. A feature that is particularly helpful to players with unilateral hearing loss.
Sony is also adding the much-requested party chat option to both the PS5 and PS4, allowing players to open or close voice chat groups. An open part will be directly accessible to friends, letting them enter without an invite, while a close party is off-limits to anyone without an invite from the host.
Sony has also updated the design of trophy cards and added support for more screen reader languages, among other changes. In addition, the new PS5 feature will allow users to filter their games by genre, as well as keep up to five of them to their console’s home screen for quick access.
