South Africa: Body Of Woman Found Bludgeoned, Strangled

A woman’s body was discovered bludgeoned and naked from the waist down, and officers were unable to locate the man who discovered the body.

The body of the woman was found along a railway line in Temple Valley, KwaZulu-Natal on November 27, 2022, a post on the Reaction Unit South Africa Facebook page read.

A bystander found the body next to a railway line at around 13:27 and called Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance.

The person who called for help was nowhere to be found, and phone calls to try and reach him were unsuccessful.

Before locating the woman's body lying face down, officers thoroughly searched the overgrown vegetation on both sides of the railway line.

She had nothing on below the waist.

According to reports, she sustained significant blunt-force trauma to her face and had ligature marks on her neck.

Officers from RUSA's response team questioned members of the public who claimed the victim was a prostitute and heroin addict.

She was last seen on November 26, 2022, at about 19:00 in the Verulam CBD region.

At this point, it is unclear what exactly led to her murder.
