Investigations have revealed that a 38-year-old man accused of raping a teenager at his medical practice earlier this year is not registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
Ilunga Kalasa (the doctor) reportedly runs a medical practice in Kimberley, South Africa.
The National Prosecuting Authority also stated that Kalasa, a citizen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was residing illegally in South Africa and lacked proper immigration documents.
According to NPA spokeswoman Mojalefa Senokoatsane, a 17-year-old sought medical attention from the accused in April.

According to NPA spokeswoman Mojalefa Senokoatsane, a 17-year-old sought medical attention from the accused in April.
“She was subsequently raped during a medical examination. He is also accused of sexually assaulting a 25-year-old patient at his surgery on 20 April 2022 during a medical examination,” he said.
The NPA stated that it has amended Kalasa's charge sheet to include the two new charges of violating both the Immigration Act and the Health Professions Act.
He later showed up in court, and the case was adjourned until January 10, 2023, pending the director of public prosecutions' decision.
“Investigations led by the police are continuing in this matter,” Senokoatsane said.
