At about 2:25 a.m. on Saturday, an unidentified number of gunmen reportedly opened fire on partygoers in South Africa which led to the death of two and seven others sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
A manhunt has been launched by police in Mpumalanga following the brutal attack on the group in Alexandra near Calcutta, South Africa.
Paramedics confirmed two victims dead on the premises, and seven others were shot and brought to a nearby medical facility.
"One of the victims who was fatally shot was found inside the car, while the other victim who died was found lying on the ground," Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said.
"The seven more injured individuals were discovered dispersed about the property."
According to early investigations, the shooters arrived at the scene and opened fire on the victims, but the reason for the attack is unknown.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, South Africa, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela strongly condemned the senseless killing.
"We cannot allow such incidents to occur unabated. The members are working around the clock to ensure that perpetrators thereof are soon brought to book,” said Manamela.
