South African Police Release Names Of People Killed At Birth

Bheki Cele and the top brass of SAPS visited the bereaved families on Monday.

The names of seven of the eight people killed while attending a birthday party in the Eastern Cape on Sunday have been released.

Vusumzi Sishuba, 51, was giving a birthday celebration when two unidentified shooters burst in and opened fire on the guests. Vusumzi was also killed.

Andile Sishuba, 52, Kholekile France, 54, Mbuyiseli Mboya, 64, Nomatamsanqa Mandla, 58, Liyema Poro, 20, and Nandipha Koliti, 42, were also killed, according to police.

The identity of the eighth deceased individual has yet to be confirmed, according to police spokesperson Priscilla Naidu.

During the event, three persons were also shot and injured.

According to Naidu, two of the injured people, a guy and a woman, are still in the hospital, while the third male has been discharged.

On Monday, police minister Bheki Cele and top SAPS brass paid visits to the families.

Cele stated that the probe will be carried out by teams from the provincial and national levels.

He stated that detectives are following every conceivable lead to bring justice to the families of those who were slain.

According to police, one of the deceased had three young children.

The motives for the killings, according to Naidu, have not been established.
