South America To Host 100th Anniversary Of World Cup In 2030

FIFA World Cup Trophy

South America may host the 2030 FIFA World Cup together as a joint effort by Champions Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay.

The heads of the respective football associations and FIFA President Infantino will meet in Argentina to discuss the joint bid for the tournament.

This historic event marks the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup, which was held in South America in 1930.

CONMEBOL President Dominguez stated that the 2030 World Cup is a unique opportunity and that FIFA leadership should consider South America as the birthplace of the tournament.

The decision for the host country will be made at the 74th FIFA Congress in 2024, ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Uruguay and Argentina first proposed the idea of a joint bid for the World Cup and will have to compete with Spain, Portugal, and possibly Ukraine for the opportunity to host the tournament. There are also rumours of a third bid from a combination of Greece, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, but this has not been officially confirmed.

FIFA President Infantino has previously expressed his support for a World Cup in South America, stating that it would be a great opportunity. The meeting in Argentina will be crucial in determining the future of the 2030 World Cup and the future of international football.
