Sowore, Others In Court For Protesting On New Year's Eve

The Publisher of Sahara Reporters and the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore has been charged to Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, alongside other individuals that joined the New year eve protest in Abuja.

AllNews recalls that the Sowore was arrested alongside other activists who took to the street on New year's eve to demand good governance.

According to Channels TV,  the publisher is facing three charges of criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempting to incite others.

While Sowore and the other arrested activists pleaded not guilty, the prosecution alleged that Sowore and other protesters were arrested with placards instigating a revolution against the President Buhari led administration.

Recall that following the arrest of Sowore, one of the front-liners of the #EndSARS protest Aisha Yesufu who took to her Twitter page to slam president Buhari over the development, stated that Sowore had the right to protest peacefully.

"Nigeria belongs to all of us. The right Buhari @MBuhari  has to be an incompetent, clueless, corrupt, inept and a failed President without being arrested is the right Omoyele Sowore @YeleSowore  has to protest every day! No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any Nigerian," Yesufu tweeted.

Also reacting to the development, Nigerians who seems unhappy with the federal government said that the president was again unleashing tyranny at the eve of the new year.

Recall that Sowore was initially arrested by the Department of States Service in 2019 for planning to lead a protest against the President Buhari led administration.

He was however released in December after the DSS had failed to honour court ruling on two different occasions.
