'Squid Game' Proof Nigerians Don't Need To Westernize Themse

Reno Omokri feels Nigerians don't need to westernize themselves and has used Netflix's hit series Squid Game as an example of a nation whose indigenous work has put them on the entertainment map.

Following Daddy Freeze's lead on the subject earlier, Omokri spoke via an Instagram post, advising members of the public on avoiding westernizing their names, music, and skin.

According to the lawyer and cleric, Africans will never be more appealing to the world than when they are their "original African self."

Omokri cited music icons like WizkidBurna Boy, and Davido as examples of those whose success is largely due to them being proudly African.

He wrote: "#TheSquidGame is proof you don’t need to westernise yourself. The producers promoted their language and culture. Learn from them.

"Don’t westernise your name, music, and skin. You will never be more appealing to the world than when you are your original African self!

"Look at the African artists that are big today. Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido. Each of them is proudly and unabashedly African.

"And that is why the world loves them. Love being Black. Don’t be ashamed of your skin colour, and your accent. Black is very beautiful!"
