Lecturers and other staff of the University of Ibadan (UI) protested the announcement of the new vice-chancellor (VC), whose selection has been tagged as an “imposition”.
The selection of the new VC comes on the heels of the expiration of the tenure of the current VC, Idowu Olayinka, whose tenure is said to expire November this year, while the new vice-chancellor is expected to resume on December 1st, 2020.

The other candidates were revealed to be Kayode Adebowale, Olusegun Ademowo, Olatunde Farombi, Abideen Aderinto, Babatunde Salako, Femi Mimiko, and several other professors.
