Stanbic IBTC's Peterside Tells CBN's Godwin Emefiele To Stop

Stanbic IBTC founder, Atedo Peterside, said the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, should stop the clampdown on EndSARS Protesters, stating that the Federal Government has been unfair to the youths.

Peterside said Emefiele should forget about punitive measures against the EndSARS protesters following the restriction placed on accounts belonging to some individuals involved in the EndSARS protest. The CBN got approval to freeze accounts of 20 EndSARS protesters.

The government, through the CBN, placed restriction on 20 names, including one of the frontrunners of the EndSARS protest, Bolatito Racheal Oduala, who is currently on the Lagos Panel investigating the activities of the SARS unit and the Lekki Massacre.

The list and inclusion of Oduala, popularly known as Rinu, has led to criticism of the government and Emefiele. The following are names of individuals whose accounts have been restricted;

Bolatito Racheal Oduala, Chima David Ibebunjoh, Mary Doose Kpengwa, Gatefield Nigeria Limited, Saadat Temitope Bibi, Bassey Victor Israel, Wisdom Busaosowo Obi, Nicholas Ikhalea Osazele, Ebere Idibie, Akintomide Lanre Yusuf, Uhuo Ezenwanyi Promise, Mosopefoluwa Odeseye and Adegoke Pamilerin Emmanuel.

Others are Umoh Grace Ekanem, Babatunde Victor Segun, Mulu Louis Teghenan, Mary Oshifowora, Winifred Akpevweoghene Jacob, Victor Solomon and Idunu A. Williams.

Peterside Tell Emefiele To Forget Punitive Measures

While addressing the issue of account freeze, Peterside said, I told CBN on 08 June 2019 via this 10 min. video that Nigeria has not been fair to its youths: https://t.co/VROKgIfu0m All God-fearing people should please join hands to appeal to the CBN Governor to forget about punitive measures against peaceful youths on account of #ENDSARS"

In the video posted by Peterside, he told a conference which had richest African, Aliko Dangote, CBN Governor, Zenith Bank founder, Jim Ovia, that the government is not doing enough to support the growth of the current youth, while during their youth days, they were supported to attain their current status. Peterside said the policies only favour few people in Nigeria.
