STI Expo To Ensure Nigeria Emerges Top Economy In 2030, Says

The Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI), Dr Adeleke Mamora has said that the annual STI Expo's goal is to ensure that Nigeria becomes one of the world's top-performing economies by 2030.

The minister made this statement during an important stakeholder meeting on STI on Thursday in Abuja to launch the organising committee for the exhibition in 2023.

According to Mamora, Nigeria will make significant progress in the areas of the national, social, and economic landscape with the aid of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Expo.

He revealed that the 2023 STI Expo would take place from January 16 through January 20, 2023.

"Actualising Effective Diversification of the Nigerian Economy through Science, Technology and Innovation," was the subject of the exhibition, according to Manora.

He said that President Muhammadu Buhari will proclaim the STI expo open in 2023 and that it would include, among other things, an award ceremony, an investors' and researchers' forum, and technical seminars.

Mamora also provided highlights of the 2022 expo, where young scientists and engineers received presidential prizes

The event, according to the minister, provided a chance to consider the lessons already learned, the impact of the STI Expo, and potential partnerships for the use of STI in the sustainable development of Nigeria.

The meeting, according to Monisola Udoh, the ministry's permanent secretary, would aid in determining economic growth and development.

She added that it will strengthen STI sector cooperation and develop Nigeria's economy.

Udoh emphasised that business sector involvement in the progress of STI was a priority while being represented by David Erabhahiemem, Director of Health, Biotechnology and Science (HBS) of the ministry.

She said that in order to drive the economy, the government required the private sector and academics since STI has the power to change Nigeria as it does in rich countries.

“STI is integral route to sustainable and meaningful development of Nigeria.

“Nigeria has already taken the right step through STI,” the Permanent Secretary said.
