Stock Market: MTN Nigeria, Dangote Cement Among Losers As Ai

 

The Nigerian stock market traded low volumes of deals on Tuesday as it couldn't surpass the 189.69 million units it recorded yesterday. The volume declined to 155.5 million units, thereby, recording a drop in the value of trades, which closed at N2.60 billion on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. The Nigerian bourse had closed yesterday with a value of N2.78 billion. The All Share Index, however, rose from yesterday's 24,026.05 index points to 24,097.48 today.

Top Five Gainers

Airtel Africa led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained N11.6 kobo to close trading at N328.7 kobo per share after opening today's trading with N317.1 kobo per share, this is according to NSE market data seen by AllNews. BUA Cement was second on the table, as its stock price gained 2.51% to close the market with N40.9 kobo per share, having started trading today with N39.9 kobo per share.

Zenith Bank was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with 1.87% to move from the opening price of N16.05 kobo per share to N16.35 kobo per share. RedStar Express came next, closing the market with a gain of 0.29 kobo to end trading with N3.26 kobo per share from the open share price of N2.97 kobo per share. PZ was last on the top gainers table after its share price rose from N4 per share to close trading at N4.2; representing a change of 0.2 kobo.

Top Five Losers

The top decliners had one each from the telecoms sector, oil & gas, agriculture, consumer goods and industrial goods sector. The top on the losers list was Okomu Oil, which had begun trading earlier today at N77.4 kobo per share, only to drop in price by -9.95% to clock at N69.7 kobo per share at the end of trading today.

Unilever was second on the chart losing -9.78% in share price to close at N12.45 kobo per share after opening trading at N13.8 kobo per share. Oil & Gas firm, MRS, closed the stock market at N12.45 kobo per share after shielding off -9.78% to drop from the opening price of N13.8 kobo per share.

MTN Nigeria also recorded a slight drop in its share price as it declined by -0.86% to close trading at N115 kobo per share, below the N116 kobo per share MTN Nigeria opened with. Dangote Cement completed the top five losers after it closed trading with N126 per share, declining by -0.79% from the N127 per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Traders

AllNews learnt that the top traders in the stock market for today were GTBank which traded volume of 19,7 million deals worth N413.8 million. Access Bank was the second most traded stock todaqy with 13 million units worth N81 million. MTN Nigeria was next on the list, trading 10.2 million units worth N1,1 billion.

UBA was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with 10.1 million units traded at cost of N61.9 million
Japaul Oil completed the list with 9,6 volumes traded and said to be worth N2 million.
