Stock Market Today: C&I Leasing Leads Gainers List As CAP Pl

The Nigerian stock market closed at 3,897 deals today, Friday, August 14, 2020, higher than the 3,640 deals it closed with on Thursday, August 13, 2020, while the volume reached 482.5 million units at the close of the market today, more than the 258 million units it closed with on Thursday.

The value of trades recorded today was N4.5 billion, higher than the N1.6 billion of Thursday. Meanwhile, the All-Share Index reached 25,199.84 index points today, failing to surpass the 25,236.97 index points it ended trading with on Thursday.

Top Five Gainers

C&I Leasing led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained N0.4 kobo to close trading at N4.4 per share after opening today's trading with N4 per share, this is according to NSE market data seen by AllNews. BUA Cement was second on the table, as its stock price gained N0.3 kobo to close the market with N38.9 kobo per share, having started trading today with N38.6 kobo per share.

Fidson was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with N0.17 kobo gain to move from the opening price of N3.53 kobo per share to N3.7 per share. African Prudential came next, closing the market with a gain of N0.1 kobo to end trading with N4.4 kobo per share from the opening share price of N4.3 kobo per share. GTBank was last on the top five gainers' table after its share price rose from N24.8 kobo per share to close trading at N24.9 kobo per share, after gaining N0.1 kobo.

Top Five Losers

The top on the losers' list was CAP Plc, which had begun trading earlier today at N17.9 kobo per share, only to drop in price by N-0.9 kobo to close at N17 per share at the end of trading today. Unilever was second on the chart after closing at N12.5 kobo per share from its opening trade price of N13 per share; this represents a drop of N-0.5 kobo. MTN Nigeria also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by N-0.5 kobo to close trading at N119.5 kobo per share, below the N119 per share it opened with.

Nigerian Northern Flour Mills (NNFM) closed the stock market at N3.87 kobo per share after shielding off N-0.43 kobo to drop from the opening price of N4.3 kobo per share. Cadbury completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with N7.45 kobo per share, declining by N-0.3 kobo from the N7.75 kobo per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were Wapic Insurance, which traded a volume of over 101 million units worth N33.3 million. Unilever was the second most traded stock today with over 67.8 million units worth over N848.4 million. Zenith Bank was next on the list, trading 58 million units worth N969.3 million.

Access Bank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 47 million units traded at a cost of over N305.4 million, while First Bank completed the top five list with over 46.6 million units traded today, worth N232.8 million.
