Stock Market Today: Dangote Sugar Lead Gainers List As Corne

The Nigerian stock market closed at 2,934 deals on Friday, September 18, 2020, lower than the 3,360 deals it closed with on Thursday, September 17, 2020, while the volume reached 193.4 million units at the close of the market on Friday, lower than the 231.2 million units it closed with on Thursday.

The value of trades recorded on Thursday was NGN1,845 billion, lower than the NGN2,095 billion of Thursday. Meanwhile, on Friday, the All-Share Index reached 25,572.57 index points, higher than the 25,532.74 index points it ended trading with on Thursday. The stock market also ended with NGN13,364 trillion equity capitalisation on Friday, higher than the NGN13,343 trillion of Thursday.

Top Five Gainers

Dangote Sugar led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained NGN0.8 kobo to close trading at NGN12 per share after opening today's trading with NGN11.2 kobo per share, this is according to Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market data seen by AllNews. GTBank was second on the table, as its stock price gained NGN0.35 kobo to close the market with NGN25.35 kobo per share, having started trading today with NGN25 per share.

Custodian was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with NGN0.3 kobo gain to move from the opening price of NGN4.55 kobo per share to NGN4.85 kobo per share. Neimeth came next, closing the market with a gain of NGN0.15 kobo to end trading with NGN1.95 kobo per share from the opening share price of NGN1.8 kobo per share. Caverton was last on the top five gainers' table after its share price rose from NGN1.7 kobo per share to close trading at NGN1.84 kobo per share, after gaining NGN0.14 kobo.

Top Five Losers

On the top of the losers' list is Corner Stone, which had begun trading earlier today at NGN0.66 kobo per share, only to drop in price by -7.58% to close at NGN0.61 kobo per share at the end of trading today. Cutix was second on the chart after closing at NGN1.7 kobo per share from its opening trade price of NGN1.75 kobo per share; this represents a drop of -2.86%. Associated Bus Company also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by -9.09% to close trading at NGN0.3 kobo per share, below the NGN0.33 kobo per share it opened with.

Lasaco closed the stock market at NGN0.25 kobo per share after shielding off -7.41%, to drop from the opening price of NGN0.27 per share. Transcorp Hotel completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with NGN0.6 kobo per share, declining by -1.64% from the NGN0.6 kobo per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were First Bank, which traded a volume of over 35.7 million units worth NGN165.3 million. FCMB was the second most traded stock today with over 29.2 million units worth over NGN60.2 million. Zenith Bank was next on the list, trading 16 million units worth NGN267.2 million.

Access Bank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 11.5 million units traded at a cost of over NGN74.4 million, while Corner Stone completed the top five list with over 9.9 million units traded today, worth NGN6 million.
