Stock Market Today: Here Are The Top Five Losers And Gainers

The Nigerian stock market closed at 3,723 deals today, Friday, July 24, 2020, higher than the 2,986 deals it recorded on Thursday, July 23, 2020, while the volume dropped to 174.1 million units today, from the 164.2 million units of Thursday, while the value of trades was N2.3 billion today; it was N2.1 billion yesterday. Meanwhile, the All-Share Index reached 24,427.73 index points today, lower than the 24,512.27 index points the market closed with on Thursday.

Top Five Gainers

Julius Berger led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained N1.55 to close trading at N17.05 per share after opening today's trading with N15.5 per share, this is according to NSE market data seen by AllNews. Stanbic Bank was second on the table, as its stock price gained N1 to close the market with N30 per share, having started trading today with N29 kobo per share.

Custodian was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with N0.5 kobo gain to move from the opening price of N5 per share to N5.5 kobo per share. Dangote Sugar came next, closing the market with a gain of N0.2 kobo to end trading with N11.9 kobo per share from the opening share price of N11.7 kobo per share. Nahco was last on the top five gainers table after its share price rose from N2.03 per share to close trading at N2.2 kobo per share; representing a change of 8.37%.

Top Five Losers

The top on the losers list was Seplat, which had begun trading earlier today at N386 per share, only to drop in price by N-38.6 kobo to close at N347.4 per share at the end of trading today. BUA Cement was second on the chart losing N-1 in share price to close at N39 per share after opening trade at N40 per share. Unilever also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by -4.67% to close trading at N12.25 kobo per share, below the N12.85 kobo per share it opened with.

UBA closed the stock market at N6 per share after shielding off -1.64% to drop from the opening price of N6.1 kobo per share. First Bank completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with N4.95 per share, declining by -1.00% from the N5 per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were Zenith Bank, which traded volume of over 34.5 million units worth N537.5 million. First Bank was the second most traded stock today with over 28.1 million units worth over N140.1 million. UBA was next on the list, trading 14.4 million units worth N87.9 million.

Access Bank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 9.7 million units traded at cost of over N60.3 million, while Nigerian Breweries completed the top five list with over 9.7 million units traded today, worth N301.3 million.
