Stock Market Today: Here Are The Top Five Losers And Gainers

The Nigerian stock market closed at 4,336 deals today, Monday, July 27, 2020, higher than the 3,723 deals it recorded on Friday, July 24, 2020, while the volume dropped to 169.9 million units today, from the 174.1 million million units of Friday, while the value of trades was N2.3 billion today; it was also around N2.3 billion on Friday. Meanwhile, the All-Share Index reached 24,783.61 index points today, higher than the 24,427.73 index points the market closed with on Friday.

Top Five Gainers

Dangote Cement led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained N7.6 kobo to close trading at N141.8 kobo per share after opening today's trading with N134.2 kobo per share, this is according to NSE market data seen by AllNews. GTBank was second on the table, as its stock price gained N1.65 to close the market with N23.3 per share, having started trading today with N21.65 kobo per share.

WAPCO was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with N1.05 gain to move from the opening price of N10.95 kobo per share to N12 per share. Zenith Bank came next, closing the market with a gain of N0.4 kobo to end trading with N15.9 kobo per share from the opening share price of N15.5 kobo per share. UBA was last on the top five gainers table after its share price rose from N6 per share to close trading at N6.15 kobo per share; representing a change of N0.15 kobo.

Top Five Losers

The top on the losers list was Seplat, which had begun trading earlier today at N347.4 per share, only to drop in price by N-34.7 kobo to close at N312.7 per share at the end of trading today. CAP Plc was second on the chart losing N-1.85 in share price to close at N17.1 per share after opening trade at N18.95 per share. Julius Berger also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by -N1.05 to close trading at N16 per share, below the N17.05 kobo per share it opened with.

Berger Paints closed the stock market at N5.5 per share after shielding off N-0.6 kobo to drop from the opening price of N6.1 kobo per share. Cadbury completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with N6.7 kobo per share, declining by N-0.55 kobo from the N7.25 per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were Flourmill, which traded volume of over 30.4 million units worth N518 million. WAPCO was the second most traded stock today with over 28 million units worth over N335.8 million. First Bank was next on the list, trading 9.9 million units worth N49.7 million.

GTBank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 8.9 million units traded at cost of over N201.6 million, while UBA completed the top five list with over 8.2 million units traded today, worth N50.4 million.
