Stock Market Today: Here Are The Top Five Losers And Gainers

The Nigerian stock market closed at 4,036 deals Friday, August 7, 2020, while the volume reached 167.1 million units. The value of trades recorded was N2 billion while, the All-Share Index reached 25,041.89 index points to end the week.

 

Top Five Gainers

Valuealliance Value Fund led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained N10.3 kobo to close trading at N113.5 per share after opening today's trading with N103.2 kobo per share, this is according to NSE market data seen by AllNews. Okomu Oil was second on the table, as its stock price gained N2.05 to close the market with N77 per share, having started trading today with N31.5 per share.

Guinness was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with N14.1 kobo gain to move from the opening price of N13.5 kobo per share to N0.6 kobo per share. GTBank came next, closing the market with a gain of N0.6 kobo to end trading with N24.35 per share from the opening share price of N23.75 kobo per share. Union Bank was last on the top five gainers' table after its share price rose from N5 per share to close trading at N5.4 kobo per share; representing a change of N0.4 kobo.

Top Five Losers

The top on the losers' list was UAC Nigeria, which had begun trading earlier today at N6.85 kobo per share, only to drop in price by N-0.65 kobo to close at N6.2 kobo per share at the end of trading today. Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc was second on the chart after closing at N0.41 kobo per share from its opening trade price of N0.45 per share; this represents a -8.89% drop. AIICO also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by -3.23% to close trading at N0.93 kobo per share, below the N0.9 kobo per share it opened with.

Jaiz Bank closed the stock market at N0.57 kobo per share after shielding off -3.23% to drop from the opening price of N0.95 kobo per share. Transcorp completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with N0.61 kobo per share, declining by -1.61% from the N0.62 kobo per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were GTBank, which traded a volume of over 27.1 million units worth N657.6 million. First Bank was the second most traded stock today with over 22.9 million units worth over N116.8 million. Sterling Bank was next on the list, trading 12.6 million units worth N15 million.

Zenith Bank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 11.3 million units traded at a cost of over N191.5 million, while Lafarge (WAPCO) completed the top five list with over 10.7 million units traded today, worth N126.5 million.
