Stock Market Today: Here Are The Top Five Losers And Gainers

The Nigerian stock market closed at 3,500 deals today, Tuesday, July 21, 2020, higher than the 3,258 deals it recorded on Monday, July 20, 2020, while the volume dropped to 304.1 million units today, from the 305.1 million units of Monday, but the value of trades was N3.2 billion today; it was N2.1 billion yesterday. Meanwhile, the All-Share Index reached 24,174.45 index points today, below the 24,269.58 index points the market closed with on Monday.

Top Five Gainers

Nigerian Breweries led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained N1 to close trading at N31 per share after opening today's trading with N30 per share, this is according to NSE market data seen by AllNews. MTN Nigeria was second on the table, as its stock price also gained N1 to close the market with N119 per share, having started trading today with N118 per share.

Vitafoam was the third top gainer as its stock price also closed the market with N0.42 kobo gain to move from the opening price of N5.75 kobo per share to N5.33 kobo per share. Africa Prudential came next, closing the market with a gain of N0.17 kobo to end trading with N4.01 kobo per share from the opening share price of N4.01 kobo per share. United Capital was last on the top five gainers table after its share price rose from N2.72 kobo per share to close trading at N2.79 kobo per share; representing a change of 2.57%.

Top Five Losers

The top on the losers list was Dangote Cement, which had begun trading earlier today at N126 per share, only to drop in price by N-4 to close at N122 per share at the end of trading today. CAP Plc was second on the chart losing N-1.7 kobo in share price to close at N18.95 kobo per share after opening trade at N20.65 kobo per share. International Brewery closed the stock market at N3.45 kobo per share after shielding off  N-0.35 to drop from the opening price of N3.8 kobo per share.

ETERNA Oil also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by N-0.2 kobo per share to close trading at N1.8 kobo per share, below the N2 per share it opened with.Cutix completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with N1.54 kobo per share, declining by -6.10% from the N1.64 kobo per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were First Bank, which traded volume of over 82.2 million units worth N407.5 million. Custodian was the second most traded stock today with over 30.2 million units worth over N146.8 million. Sterling Bank was next on the list, trading over 27.9 million units worth N34.2 million.

Flour Mill was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 20.28 million units traded at cost of over N344.8 million, while Nigerian Breweries completed the top five list with over 20.21 million units traded today, worth N626.5 million.
