Stock Market Today: Here Are The Top Five Losers And Gainers

The Nigerian stock market closed at 3,780 deals today, Tuesday, July 28, 2020, lower than the 4,336 deals it recorded on Monday, July 27, 2020, while the volume dropped to 150.3 million units today, from the 169.9 million units of Monday, while the value of trades was N1.9 billion today; it was N2.3 billion on Monday. Meanwhile, the All-Share Index reached 24,650.16 index points today, lower than the 24,783.61 index points the market closed with on Monday.

Top Five Gainers

Okomu Oil led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained N4.45 kobo to close trading at N74.95 kobo per share after opening today's trading with N70.5 kobo per share, this is according to NSE market data seen by AllNews. Berger Paint was second on the table, as its stock price gained N0.55 to close the market with N6.05 per share, having started trading today with N5.5 kobo per share.

Zenith Bank was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with N0.45 gain to move from the opening price of N15.9 kobo per share to N16.35 kobo per share. Oando came next, closing the market with a gain of N0.12 kobo to end trading with N2.27 kobo per share from the opening share price of N2.15 kobo per share. United Capital Plc was last on the top five gainers table after its share price rose from N2.77 kobo per share to close trading at N2.86 kobo per share; representing a change of 3.25%.

Top Five Losers

The top on the losers list was Seplat, which had begun trading earlier today at N312.7 kobo per share, only to drop in price by N-30.7 kobo to close at N282 per share at the end of trading today. Total was second on the chart losing N-9.7 in share price to close at N87.8 kobo per share after opening trade at N97.5 kobo per share. MTN Nigeria also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by N-2 to close trading at N118 per share, below the N120 kobo per share it opened with.

Julius Berger closed the stock market at N15 per share after shielding off N-1 kobo to drop from the opening price of N16 per share. GTBank completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with N22.6 kobo per share, declining by N-0.7 kobo from the N23.3 per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were Mutual benefit, which traded volume of over  26.9 million units worth N5.5 million. First Bank was the second most traded stock today with over 17 million units worth over N84.1 million. Access Bank was next on the list, trading 11.2 million units worth N69.7 million.

Wapco was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 10.6 million units traded at cost of over N130.7 million, while GTBank completed the top five list with over 8.4 million units traded today, worth N190.4 million.
