Stock Market Today: Mobil Lead Top Gainers As Zenith Bank Fa

The Nigerian stock market closed at 3,860 deals today, Wednesday, August 5, 2020, lower than the 4,222 deals recorded on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. While the volume rose to 383.2 million units from 154.4 million units a day before. The value of trades was N3.8 billion and higher than the N1.4 billion recorded the previous day. Meanwhile, the All-Share Index reached 24,882.04 index points on Wednesday, higher than the 24,841.94 index points of Tuesday.

Top Five Gainers

Mobil led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained N1.6 kobo to close trading at N175 per share after opening today's trading with N173.4 kobo per share, this is according to NSE market data seen by AllNews. Stanbic IBTC Bank was second on the table, as its stock price gained N1.5 to close the market with N31.5 kobo per share, having started trading today with N30 per share.

CAP Plc was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with N1.5 kobo gain to move from the opening price of N15.4 kobo per share to N16.9 kobo per share. Presco came next, closing the market with a gain of N0.55 kobo to end trading with N48 per share from the opening share price of N47.45 kobo per share. GTBank was last on the top five gainers' table after its share price rose from N23.15 kobo per share to close trading at N23.6 kobo per share; representing a change of N0.45 kobo.

Top Five Losers

The top on the losers' list was Zenith Bank, which had begun trading earlier today at N16.95 kobo per share, only to drop in price by N-0.45 kobo to close at N16.5 kobo per share at the end of trading today. Eterna was second on the chart losing N-0.18 kobo in share price to close at N1.82 kobo per share after opening trade at N2 per share. May & Baker also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by N-0.1 kobo to close trading at N2.9 kobo per share, below the N3 kobo per share it opened with.

Flour Mill closed the stock market at N19.4 kobo per share after shielding off N-0.1 kobo to drop from the opening price of N19.5 kobo per share. Lafarge (WAPCO) completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with N11.7 kobo per share, declining by -0.43% from the N11.75 kobo per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were UAC Nigeria, which traded volume of over 81.7 million units worth N471.5 million. First Bank was the second most traded stock today with over 66.4 million units worth over N334.1 million. Access Bank was next on the list, trading 59.1 million units worth N378.7 million.

Zenith Bank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 30.7 million units traded at cost of over N521.1 million, while Presco completed the top five list with over 26.1 million units traded today, worth N1.2 billion.
