Stock Market Today: Top Five List Of Losers And Gainers

The Nigerian stock market closed at 2,986 deals today, Thursday, July 23, 2020, lower than the 3,252 deals it recorded on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, while the volume dropped to 164.2 million units today, from the 402.6 million units of Wednesday, while the value of trades was N2.1 billion today; it was N4.5 billion yesterday. Meanwhile, the All-Share Index reached 24,512.27 index points today, higher than the 24,173.53 index points the market closed with on Wednesday.

Top Five Gainers

Dangote Cement led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained N12.2 to close trading at N134.2 kobo per share after opening today's trading with N122 per share, this is according to NSE market data seen by AllNews. MTN Nigeria was second on the table, as its stock price gained N1 to close the market with N120 kobo per share, having started trading today with N119 kobo per share,

Custodian was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with N0.15 kobo gain to move from the opening price of N4.85 kobo per share to N5 per share. Africa Prudential came next, closing the market with a gain of N0.11 kobo to end trading with N4.12 kobo per share from the opening share price of N4.01 per share. Access Bank was last on the top five gainers table after its share price rose from N6.15 kobo per share to close trading at N6.2 kobo per share; representing a change of 0.81%.

Top Five Losers

The top on the losers list was BUA Cement, which had begun trading earlier today at N41.45 kobo per share, only to drop in price by N-1.45 to close at N40 per share at the end of trading today. Dangote Sugar was second on the chart losing N-0.3 kobo in share price to close at N11.7 kobo per share after opening trade at N12 per share. Neimeth closed the stock market at N1.4 kobo per share after shielding off -6.67% to drop from the opening price of N1.5 kobo per share.

Ecobank also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by -1.18% to close trading at N4.2 kobo per share, below the N4.25 per share it opened with. GTBank completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with N21.5 kobo per share, declining by -0.23% from the N21.55 kobo per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were First Bank, which traded volume of over 42.6 million units worth N211.2 million. Custodian was the second most traded stock today with over 20 million units worth over N100.1 billion. Zenith Bank was next on the list, trading 17.9 million units worth N278.9 million.

GTBank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 11.6 million units traded at cost of over N251.1 million, while UBA completed the top five list with over 8.4 million units traded today, worth N51.5 million.
