Emmanuel Osodeke
The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Emmanuel Ososdeke has reacted to the court judgement ordering members of the union to go back to work.
The National Industrial Court had earlier on Wednesday ruled in favour of the federal government in the court case between ASUU and FG.
Osodeke in a video on Twitter lamented the forceful resumption of the striking lecturers as ordered by the court.
According to the ASUU boss, ordering the teachers to resume against their will has a high tendency of affecting their performance in lecture rooms.
Osodeke further compared the scenario to forcing a doctor to treat a patient, asking if any patient would opt for such a doctor.
"If the court forces lecturers to go to court tomorrow, which type of teaching will they do?
"It is just like the court forcing a doctor to treat a patient against your will, how many patients will go to and meet that doctor? That is the question I will ask Nigerians," Osodeke said.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) had earlier in a statement kicked against the court ruling, maintaining that "it betrays equity".
