The meeting between the striking members of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria (JDWAN) and the Lagos State Government has been shifted to Friday, November 4, 2022.
While giving the update, JDWAN disclosed that the strike continues pending the meeting on Friday.
Speaking in a statement issued late on Wednesday, JDWAN National Leader, Abiodun Akintade said their demands have been communicated to the government.
“We made our presentation on the situations that caused the strike and our demands. The government’s team feigned sympathy with us.
"They, however, said they wanted us to have both representatives of the NURTW and the RTEAN to also be in the negotiations so they could present their own sides of the story.
“So, the meeting was adjourned till Friday by 12 pm at the Alausa Secretariat", he stated.
Commercial drivers embarked on a seven-day strike on Monday, October 31, 2022, giving reasons for the unexpected industrial action.
