The National Industrial court (NIC) has, for the second time, adjourned the lawsuit filed by the Federal Government against the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
It was earlier reported that both parties appeared before the court on Monday, September 12, after which the case was adjourned till Friday, September 16 (today) by the presiding judge, Justice Polycap Hamman to allow the FG and ASUU to file the necessary papers for the case.
The court, after the resumed sitting today, announced the readjournment of the case till Monday, September 19, 2022.
J.U.K. Igwe (SAN), the counsel to the FG, had earlier urged the court to accelerate the hearing of the case due to the urgency of the issue.
He added that it would be reasonable for the striking lecturers to resume duties since the matter was due for a hearing in court.
AllNews Nigeria reports that the federal government had through the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, requested the NIC to order the striking lecturers to resume duties while the issues are being dealt with.
