Strike: FG Given Two-Week Ultimatum By Doctors Over Pending

The federal government has been given a two-week ultimatum by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) to implement agreements concerning their demands.

Per a Punch report, the ultimatum was made known in a communique released on Saturday at the end of their Extraordinary National Executive Council meeting held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The federal government have been given the option of acceding to the demands or facing industrial disharmony.

It was revealed that the meeting took place from Thursday, April 27 to Saturday, April 29 and was a result of the issues affecting the doctors' welfare and the alarming rate of migration over poor remuneration, and inadequate funding of the health sector, among others.

The doctors want an immediate increment in the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure to the tune of 200 per cent of the current gross salary of doctors in addition to the new allowances included in the letter written by the association to the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire on July 7, 2022, on the review of CONMESS.

As of the time of filing this report, the federal government has issued any statement as a form of response to the ultimatum.
