Suarez Seals La Liga Title For Atletico Madrid

Luis Suarez has become the golden goose for Atletico Madrid as he scored late to secure the La Liga crown for Rojiblancos, the first La Liga trophy since the 2013-14 season.

A 69th-minute strike by the Uruguayan secured the title for Diego Simeone's side which means whatever Real Madrid's result is will not count as local rival Atleti has dethroned their Madrid neighbour.

Real Valladolid opened the scoring with a 17th minute goal from Oscar Plano -- if it had ended 1-0, Real Madrid would have retained the title for the second time.

Atleti did not respond until the 56th minute of the game when Argentine Angel Correa finished off an assist from Yannick Carrasco.

The Belgian winger has been instrumental to Atleti's attack since returned from China.

Suarez waited till the 67th minute to strike a final title-winning goal at the heart of Valladolid's defence as they claimed their 12th La Liga title in the history of the club.
