The Executive Chairman of Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Mathew Sule has urged the more profound involvement of the private sector to promote the provision of quality education in Nigeria.
Sule made the request while speaking at the inauguration of Tanjuriel Elite Stars Model Academy on Wednesday in Jos.
The Chairman maintained that quality education cannot be provided by the government without the contribution and cooperation of the private sector of the country.
”No government anywhere can provide quality education without the input, support and cooperation of the private sector.
”Education is the life wire of the society; it provides cure to societal ills such as poverty, diseases and what have you.
”So, the government will not shy away from the reality, rather will leave its doors widely open for possible collaboration with the private sector for better service delivery,” he said.
The chairman further lauded the private school owners while advising that owning a school is a social service where “knowledge is given and not a profit-making venture".
He also advised the administration of these schools to maintain the global standards of quality service delivery by employing professional teachers.
