Sudan: Police General Killed In Anti-Coup Protest

Sudan: Police General Killed In Anti-Coup Protest

The Sudanese Police Force has announced the death of one of its generals who was killed in an anti-coup protest in Khartoum on Thursday.

The statement by the country’s police said that the general was killed while protecting the protesters.

The country has been plagued by violence since the October 25, 2021 coup led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane.

The protesters have been victims of gunshots, teargas, and baton charges which has resulted in the death of 63 protesters with over a hundred injured.

Again on Thursday, the Sudanese security forces fired tear gas at thousands of protesters in Khartoum.

Recently, the United Nations has attempted to get all Sudanese state actors to the negotiating table. The Association of Sudanese Professionals have however rejected such talks.

The protesters are demanding that the military government leave the seat of power and return the nation to a democratic one.
