The Sudanese military have claimed that several of their soldiers were killed in an attack by Ethiopian forces in a border region.
Military authorities in Sudan said in a statement released on Saturday that it's “forces tasked with securing Al-Fashaqa were attacked by groups of Ethiopian army forces who intimidated farmers and spoilt their harvest. Our soldiers repelled the attack which left several killed."
The statement made no count of the soldiers killed but Independent military sources claimed at least six soldiers were killed in the attack.
Al-Fashaqa is a border zone used by Ethiopian farmers but claimed by Sudan. The border has witnessed deadly clashes between the two sides over the past years.
