A journalist, Abdiaziz Mohamud Guled, was killed by a suicide bomber in Mogadishu, Somalia Saturday.
The prominent journalist was said to be a critic of the Al Shabaab Jihadist group before his death. The Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the blast that killed Guled, who was a director of government-owned Radio Mogadishu. In the attack, two others were also said to have been wounded.
A colleague of the dead journalist, Ali Mohamed recounted how the journalist came out of a restaurant and went into his car with a colleague before the suicide bomber ran towards his car and blasted himself off.
The Al-Shabaab is a terrorit group waging war on the country’s government since 2007. They claimed responsibility for the attack as they declared in a statement that they had long been after the journalist.
Media house, Reporters Without Borders said the country remains the most dangerous country in Africa for journalists as over 50 media personnel have been killed since 2010.
