Sunday Igboho: IPOB's Nnamdi Kanu Sends ‘Warning Message’ To New Oyo Police Commissioner

Amid the Sunday Igboho - Fulani people quit notice saga, Biafra political activist, Nnamdi Kanu has asked Ngozi Onadeko, the new Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command to resign her appointment.

Kanu, the diaspora-based leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in a post on his known Facebook page on Saturday told Onadeko "not to do anything likely to jeopardise the safety or well-being of Sunday Ighoho".

Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, a Nigerian human rights activist and warrior had on Friday stormed Igangan, in Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo State to further stiffen his stance that Fulanis in the region should leave.

Sunday Igboho had not long ago - like Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State - issued a quit notice to Fulani and Bororo people residing in Ibarapa specifically, saying they are most times responsible for kidnappings and killings in that zone.

Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde had in a statewide broadcast on Wednesday cautioned Sunday Igboho over the ultimatum given to Fulanis to leave the state, saying "the fragile peace between the herdsmen and farmers in Oke Ogun is being threatened".

Multiple news outlets are reporting that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has ordered the arrest of Sunday Igboho.

The Fulani are a widely dispersed group of mainly Muslim cattle herders scattered across West Africa.

It would be recalled that in December 2020, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Dr. Fatai Aborode was brutally murdered by suspected herdsmen in his farm along Apodun road, Igangan.

Incessant security concerns in the South-West region caused governors to launch the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Operation Amotekun in 2019.

The operatives of the security outfit are expected to assist police, other security agencies and traditional rulers in combating terrorism, banditry, armed robbery, kidnapping and also help in settling herdsmen and farmers contentions in the South-West region.

Sunday Igboho has been active in combatting insecurity in southwest Nigeria.

In October 2020, he joined forces in Kisi, against bandits in Oke-Ogun.

A warning to Mrs Ngozi Onadeko, the new #IGBO Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command. 

You are an Igbo woman so I expect you to be reasonable enough to know that Fulani IGP posted you to Oyo to superintend the arrest or possible killing of Yoruba youths in order to ferment enmity between the East and the West at this critical juncture in the history of the liberation of all indigenous peoples across Nigeria, including you and your family. 

I will advice you to resign honourably from your position as a certain Yoruba CP did in Abia State when he declined to order men under his command to open fire on IPOB protesters.

I am warning you not to do anything likely to jeopardise the safety or well-being of Sunday Ighoho otherwise you and your family will have the might of IPOB to contend with. The silly game you people always play in that #Zoo will no longer wash with us. Suddenly Fulani have realised that appointing an Igbo woman as Police Commissioner is a good thing because they want to use you. Nothing should happen to #Ighoho.
