The coach, Rohr Gerhot had said they might likely go by boat due to bad roads between Benin Republic and Nigeria.
“But because the road is not good between Lagos and Cotonou, we will travel to the match on a boat because the crossing only lasts two hours, instead of many hours on poor roads,” he explained.

This raised concerns among the players - especially those playing in Europe who are not used to that means of transportation.
Pinnick in an interview on ARISE TV did not dismiss the idea of transportation especially as he had taken it several times.
“Going to Cotonou by boat, I do that all the time. When we were going to inspect we did it. There is nothing wrong with exploring other forms of adventure in Nigeria,” Pinnick emphasized.
He also concluded by saying the federation has not decided on the type of transportation yet.
The game between Nigeria and Benin Republic is scheduled for Saturday 27 March 2021.
The players would know if they would be on a boat cruise to Benin or on a bus.
