Nigeria's Super Falcons were beaten by Mexico in their first game at the 2023 Revelations Cup on Thursday.
Mexico won the game 1-0 after Kiana Palacios found the back of the net in the 85th minute.
The outcome means Nigeria's female national team extended their winless run to six straight games with their last win coming against Cameroon in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Chiamaka Nnadozie, Ashleigh Plumptre, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne, Rofiat Imuran, Blessing Demehin, Ifeoma Onumonu, Rasheedat Ajibade Chinwendu Ihezuo, Francisca Ordega and Christy Ucheibe all made the starting lineup for the Falcons.
They are to face Colombia in their second game on Saturday, February 18, and will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat.
Colombia had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica in the first game of the four-nation tournament.
The Falcons are participating in the Revelations Cup as preparations for this year's women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
