The Police in Aba, Abia State have arrested no fewer than seven suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) during a protest.
AllNews understands that they stormed the streets of Aba in large numbers, protesting the murder of Christians and the Biafrans in the country.
According to reports, the protesters, decked out with their flags began the protest from the Ala Oji Flyover on the Enugu – Port Harcourt expressway and ended at AMEK junction.
A report on Guardian says that security operatives tried to disperse the crowd, leading to injuries of the IPOB members.
Confirming the arrest, the Abia state Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede said she was uncertain about the number of those arrested.
Agbede said: “I am aware that some IPOB members were arrested, but I don’t know the actual number. They will be bringing them to Umuahia (Police Headquarters) tomorrow. By tomorrow, I will have the exact number of those arrested.”
