World number one Iga Swiatek is waiting for more information on the thigh injury which forced her to retire from the quarter-final clash against Elena Rybakina at the Italian Open.
She retired at 2-6 7-6 (7-3) 2-2 on Wednesday despite a medical timeout during the second-set tie-break.
"The diagnostic is in progress," said Swiatek, who was in tears and returned with strapping on her right thigh.
"More info in the following days."
It remains unclear whether the 21-year-old will be fit for this year's French Open, which begins on 28 May.
