Swiatek continues leadership in women's WTA ranking

There were minimal changes in the top 20 of the WTA rankings on Monday as Igo Swiatek started her 105th week as the WTA number one ranked women's tennis, 24 hours after the 2024 French Open tournament in Paris.

Swiatek's dominance stems from the fact that top players in the women's category competing at the Grand Slam did not compete last week.

Roland Garros women's defending champion, Swiatek leads by 3,557 points over second-placed Aryna Sabalenka who is expected to drop 770 points after reaching the semi-final last year.

The Pole remains at No 9 in the all-time list for most weeks spent at No 1, but she is now just 12 weeks behind Justine Henin in eighth place and she could draw level with the Belgian’s 112 weeks by mid-August.

There is a big drop coming for Karolina Muchova after the French Open as last year’s runner-up is set to slump out of the top 20 as she is unable to play in Paris this year due to injury.
