Swiatek Inflicts Straight-Sets Defeat On Raducanu At Indian

World number one Iga Swiatek defeated Emma Raducanu 6-3 6-1 to book a quarter-finals slot and continue her title defence at the Indian Wells.

The Pole raised her game against the British number one who put her under pressure early in the opening set in order to forge ahead.

Her tactics of clean ball striking helped her wrap up the first set against the Brit before grabbing an early break in the second to heap pressure on the 2021 US Open champion.

Raducanu couldn't handle the quality of the reigning champion as she made unforced errors which helped to end her impressive run in the competition amid illness and a recurring wrist injury.

Her defeat makes it the second loss against the Pole in as many matches.

Swiatek will next face unseeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea who beat fifth seed Caroline Garcia 6-4 4-6 7-5.

The pair met in the last 16 of the 2022 Australian Open where Cirstea pushed Swiatek to three sets.

"I still remember that match," said Cirstea.

"It was an amazing match, and usually I don't say that when I lose a match.

"Since then she just took off. She's been playing amazingly.

"She's such a complete player, she moves great, she doesn't have any flaws in her game.

"She's, from my point of view, the best mover we have.

"It's really hard to find a weakness in her game.

"I like Iga, I think she's the sweetest girl. She's such a wonderful role model."
