Chief Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has resigned from his position to contest for governor in Bayelsa.
According to information gathered by NAN in Abuja on Friday from unconfirmed sources, the minister has given President Muhammadu Buhari his letter of resignation.
According to the sources, Sylva intends to run for governor of Bayelsa and will take part in the upcoming APC primary election, which is anticipated to take place at some point in April.
Sylva has the constitutional right to run for reelection after serving one term as the leader of Bayelsa.
Horatius Egua, the senior adviser for media and communications for the minister, declined to confirm or refute the resignation when he was approached since he had not seen the resignation letter or been formally informed of it by the minister.
