Sylvester Oromoni: Protesters Storm Dowen College To Demand

Following the verdict of the Lagos State Government to exonerate five students and staff of Dowen College who were alleged to have a hand in the death of Sylvester Oromoni, some concerned citizens have stormed the school in Lekki, Lagos, to demand its continued closure.

The protesters suspected to be Ijaw indigenous were seen on branded shirts, bearing placards with inscriptions of solidarity with the Oromoni family.

12-year-old Sylvester was reported to have died as a result of a poisonous substance he was forced to consume by five students of Dowen College after he refused to join their cult group.

The protest on Thursday followed the 'not guilty' verdict delivered by the Lagos State Government through the Director of Public Prosecution Wednesday.

The verdict also stated that any of the suspects who is still in police custody be released.

The devastated mother of the deceased took to social media after the verdict, to express her grievance. She cried out to God to avenge her son.

"Nigeria, I'm so happy and I appreciate the deep love you have for us. The love that you people have for us, I appreciate all. But this battle that is on the ground is of the Lord's

"Everlasting living God, the creator of heaven and earth... will most surely, surely avenge the death of my son, Oghenenyerhowo Sylvester Oromoni.

"The everlasting living God will avenge the death of my son. For this, the whole world will know that there is a God who fights for the oppressed!

"Jehovah God arise! King of Glory arise! And let those who cut the life of my son short, cut their lives short, oh Lord!

"And those who are supporting them, oh Lord, cut their lives short. Let them feel the pains that I'm passing through...!," she lamented.
