Tafa Balogun's Demise A Colossal Loss - Yemi Farounbi

Former Ambassador to the Philippines, Akinyemi Farounbi has mourned the demise of former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tafa Balogun who died on Thursday at the age of 74.

Farounbi also sent his condolences to the Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Kayode Oyedotun, the immediate family and friends of Balogun, the Nigeria Police and the people of Ila-Orangun where the late IGP hailed from.

The Asiwaju of Ora-Igbomina described the late Balogun as a true Nigerian whose contribution towards making the country secured remains indelible

“It is sad and unfortunate that we have lost a great and experienced Police Officer at a time that we need him most.

"He was the originator of the concept of community policing.

“If he had been allowed to nurture the concept, it would have made the current insecurities impossible.

"If Nigeria had not been a country afraid of using her best resources, Tafa Balogun would have been at the forefront of those designing an effective and efficient security architecture for Nigeria.

“Good night my dear brother."
